സമുദ്രനിരപ്പില്‍നിന്ന് 3,400 അടി ഉയരത്തിലാണ് പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ ഗവി. പെരിയാര്‍ കടുവസംരക്ഷണ കേന്ദ്രത്തിനുള്ളില്‍. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ വന്യജീവികളുണ്ടാകുമോയെന്ന് യാത്ര തുടങ്ങും മുമ്പ് ആര്‍ക്കും സംശയം വേണ്ട. കടുവ, ആന, മാന്‍, കരടി, മ്ലാവ്, സിംഹവാലന്‍കുരങ്ങ്, മലമുഴക്കി വേഴാമ്പല്‍, മരംകൊത്തികള്‍, മൈനകള്‍ തുടങ്ങി ഓര്‍മയിലേക്കു മറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന മൃഗങ്ങളും പക്ഷികളുമെല്ലാം ഗവിക്കു സ്വന്തം. സാഹസികസഞ്ചാരികളാണ് ഗവിയെ കൂടുതല്‍ പ്രണയിക്കുന്നത്. വന്യതയുടെ ഹൃദയമിടിപ്പു തൊട്ടറിഞ്ഞ് കാടിനുള്ളിലൂടെയുള്ള ട്രക്കിങ് മനസ്സില്‍ ഒരിക്കലും മായാത്ത ഓര്‍മയാകുമെന്നതുറപ്പ്.ഇക്കോ ടൂറിസം പദ്ധതിയായ ഗവിയിലെ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര സാധ്യതകളെ വികസിപ്പിച്ചു പരിപാലിക്കുന്നത് കേരള ഫോറസ്റ്റ് ഡെവലപ്മെന്റ് കോര്‍പറേഷനാണ്. സഞ്ചാരികള്‍ക്ക് സൗകര്യപ്രദമായ വിവിധ പാക്കേജുകള്‍ കോര്‍പറേഷന്‍ ലഭ്യമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ബുക്കിങ് സൗകര്യവുമുണ്ട്. കൊല്ലം-മധുര ദേശീയപാത (എന്‍എച്ച് 220) യിലെ വണ്ടിപ്പെരിയാറില്‍നിന്ന് 28 കിലോമീറ്ററാണ് ദൂരം.

Karappuzha Dam- Wayanad
Karappuzha situates at 4 km distance from Amabalavayal. This small dam was constructed for water needs of various parts of Wayanad. There are lots of fishes in this beautiful dam and in its surroundings one would spot butterflies and any birds.

Thenmala-Kollam
Thenmala is a serene village at the foothills of Western Ghats which is primarily a forest area. The well-known Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary is the prime ecotourism resource of Thenmala. The Wildlife Sanctuary is of about 100 sq. km. enriched with large varieties of flora and fauna.
'Thenmala' in English means honey hills. It is located 72 kms from Thiruvananthapuram.
Thenmala Ecotourism Project) has been formulated in and around Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary with the co-operation of departments such as Forest, Irrigation and Tourism. In order to give flexibility in management for the development of this destination, a separate Society, the Thenmala Ecotourism Promotion Society (TEPS) has been constituted.
